Warmshell Board Adhesive is a breathable, moisture-wicking adhesive for Warmshell insulation boards applied to porous backgrounds. With a high lime content, it has natural biocidal properties and works with the rest of the Warmshell system to help keep the wall dry. Careful choice of ingredients mean that our adhesive does not contain toxic or persistent biocides and has very low VOCs.
We've designed this product carefully so that it contains 99% lime and sand, while still providing enough stickiness. That means it is much safer from rot or fire compared to most polymer based adhesives. It also means it acts as an active moisture-wicking layer, making sure any moisture in your wall isn't trapped.
Warmshell Board Adhesive is not for use as a tile or stone adhesive, nor for application to waterproofed backgrounds. When applied for External Wall Insulation (EWI) then mechanical fixings should also be used to resist wind loads
Weight: 20 kg
Coverage (per bag):
One bag covers approximately 2.5m2 applied with a 10 mm notched trowel.
Preparation
Work in temperatures of 5°C to 25°C. Backgrounds should be reasonably flat and straight and must be porous: apply an undercoat of Lime Green Duro if necessary. For other substrates check compatibility before commencing work. Ensure surfaces are free from dust and contamination. Do not apply to wet or contaminated backgrounds.
Mixing
Add approximately 4 ¼ litres of clean water per bag and mix with a paddle in a bucket until a creamy consistency is reached. If a skin forms over the adhesive due to drying out or high temperatures it should be disposed of. Once mixed use within an hour.
Application
Ensure the substrate is cured and hardened before starting. The substrate must not be saturated, but if it is extremely dry it can be lightly wetted before starting with a light mist of clean water. Apply Warmshell Board Adhesive with a notched trowel to the entire back of the board, combed so the direction will be vertical once the board is fitted. Various notched trowels may be used. If the background is not sufficiently plumb the wall can be back buttered as well. Starting from the bottom, firmly push the boards against the wall to collapse the bed of adhesive. As the adhesive is squashed in ensure full coverage is achieved, with no air gaps. Leave to set and harden well before undertaking further work.
Aftercare
Allow to cure for a minimum of 3 days before surface dressing
Cleaning & Disposal
Clean tools and mixers with clean water. Hardened mortar can be removed with careful application of brick acid. Dispose of waste in accordance with local regulations. Un-hardened plaster is classed as hazardous, and non-hazardous once set and dried.
Safety
Wear PPE when mixing and applying. See MSDS for detailed information.
