Vapour Control Layer (VCL) for use internally.

Vapour Control Layers (VCL) are designed to be fitted internally (warm-side) of a build-up and manage the movement of humid air from within a property room into the insulated area. When a property is heated and lived in, moisture is created through breathing, drying washing and general living. This can produce high amounts of moisture and when this comes into contact with a cold surface, it condenses and creates water. By installing a Vapour Control Membrane, we can reduce or eliminate any moisture from passing past the insulation and condensing on the cold side of the property. Another benefit of a VCL is they are air and wind-tight. They help to avoid 'wind wash' where cold air can make its way past elements of the building envelope and reduce the effective performance of insulation.

For the external side of a building, a Breather Membrane should be used.
