A mineral plaster primer that is designed to control many high suction backgrounds whilst still remaining vapour open and breathable. SOLO® Primer can also be used to consolidate problematic surfaces and substrates.
Sometimes boards or old lime plasters are too smooth or too "thirsty" to achieve a good finish when skimming with lime plaster. Solo Primer helps control the high levels of suction and provides a gritty key for the plaster to stick to, but unlike PVA it is as breathable and durable as lime and won't form a plastic film, sealing in damp. Once primed you can skim over the primer using ourSolo lime plaster.
Solo Primer is the only plaster primer on the market to be independently tested by audited facilities Sheffield Hallam University and PRA coatings for vapour diffusion to reassure you that water vapour is not trapped in the fabric of your building. No VOC, no odour, water-based and certified as vapour permeable. Our natural mineral and water-glass primer is free from any other co-binders such as solvents, gypsum and cement.

Composition Water, potassium silicate, chalk, titanium dioxide. Also contains minor additions (less than 5% stability) of stability aids, acrylic and cellulose ether. Free from biocides and VOCs.
Preparation The background must be clean and dry and free from loose material before starting. Do not use on contaminated surfaces, in extreme environments or temperatures (less than 5°C or more than 30°C). Protect surrounding surfaces, particularly glass from drips and splashes. For extremely porous or slightly dusty backgrounds a pre-application of Lime Green Silic8 Penetrating Primer can be used around 3 to 4 hours beforehand.
Solo Primer is not suitable for glossy paints or plastic backgrounds. An in-house testing facility for bond strength is offered if you have specific requirements.
Mixing Solo Primer is ready-mixed and simply needs stirring before use. If required, it can be thinned with up to 5% of Lime Green Silic8 Penetrating Primer.
Application Apply with a broad brush using short strokes. Make sure the grit is evenly spread across the surface. Allow to cure for between 2 to 24 hours depending on temperature and the applied thickness.
Aftercare Before further coating with Lime Green Solo One Coat Plaster check that the primer has hardened and dried.
